Mr Joshua Plummer’s Comedy Showcase

Redwood Productions’ latest Brighton show, featuring fresh new comedy writing

An entertaining evening of new sketches written by Joshua Plummer and directed by Jack Kristiansen.

It’s a true Brighton showcase, a tasty comedy and short play menu performed by Joshua Plummer, Warren Saunders, Kim Wright, Nathan Ariss, Mike Keegan and Laura Schofield (who stepped in with style at the last minute when a cast member was taken ill).

Featuring very British comedy themes of embarrassment, fetish and fear, mistaken identities, wordplay and a building sense of chaos as hapless protagonists find themselves stuck in mad situations, it’s old fashioned in a good way; The Secret Policeman’s Ball, John Cleese and BBC sketch comedy greats a clear inspiring influence.

Perhaps the longer pieces could be shorter and tighter, with more of the short snappy sketches, and the pace and energy ramped up a notch, to bring out the full impact.

Our picks – look out for the doctor’s examination table sketch and the encounter with the mysterious little Miss Mary.

Some strong language and adult themes.
